At High Gate Academy, we believe that choosing the right school is a shared journey between the family, the student, and the school. Our assessment process is designed to ensure that HGA is the right fit for every child — academically, socially, and emotionally.
Our admissions assessment is not a test — it is an opportunity for both the student and the school community to get to know each other.
For Families and Students
- Visit the school campus.
- Explore classrooms and facilities.
- Meet teachers and staff.
- Experience the learning environment firsthand.
This visit allows students to feel comfortable while helping parents determine whether HGA aligns with their expectations and values.
For the School
During the visit, our academic team will:
- Interact with the student in a natural and friendly setting
- Observe communication skills, confidence, and social interaction
- Identify strengths and learning needs
Important: We do not conduct formal exams or stressful tests. Our approach is based on observation and interaction to ensure a positive experience for every child.
Early Years & Lower Grades Assessment
For students applying to Kindergarten and Grades 1–3, HGA includes an additional supportive step to better understand each child’s development.
- A developmental screening or school readiness assessment
- Conducted through a certified specialized center experienced in working with children
This helps us to:
- Ensure the child’s readiness for school life
- Identify areas where support may be beneficial
- Provide the best possible learning environment from the start
We approach this step with care, professionalism, and full respect for each child’s unique abilities.
Our Approach
- Understanding each student's personality and learning style
- Determining readiness for the appropriate grade level
- Assessing the ability to engage in a classroom environment
This helps us ensure that every student can thrive within the HGA community.
